כַּוֶּרֶת שֶׁהִיא בְתוֹךְ הַפֶּתַח וּפִיהָ לַחוּץ, כַּזַּיִת מִן הַמֵּת נָתוּן תַּחְתֶּיהָ אוֹ עַל גַּבָּהּ מִבַּחוּץ, כֹּל שֶׁהוּא כְנֶגֶד הַזַּיִת, תַּחְתֶּיהָ וְגַבָּהּ טָמֵא. וְכֹל שֶׁאֵינוֹ כְנֶגֶד הַזַּיִת, תּוֹכָהּ, וְהַבַּיִת, טָהוֹר. בַּבַּיִת, אֵין טָמֵא אֶלָּא הַבַּיִת. בְּתוֹכָהּ, הַכֹּל טָמֵא:

A basket that is in an opening and its mouth faces outside, if a [piece the size of] an olive of a dead body is placed underneath or on top of it outside, anything which is opposite the [piece the size of an] olive above and below is impure and anything not opposite the olive, its inside and the house is pure. If [the impurity] was in the house, only the house is impure. If it was inside [the basket] everything is impure.
